How it works

The FFL Transfer Directory connects customers buying firearms online with the local dealers who receive those shipments — and gives dealers one free place to publish everything a shipper or customer needs to know.

For customers

  1. Search for a dealer near you by name, license number, or ZIP code.
  2. Compare transfer fees, hours, policies, and any special requirements.
  3. Give the dealer's info to your seller — the firearm ships to the dealer, who runs your background check and hands it over.

For dealers: claim your free listing

Every active FFL on the ATF list already has a listing here. Claiming yours is free and takes a few minutes:

  1. Create an account and find your listing by name or license number.
  2. Verify ownership by uploading a copy of your FFL (reviewed privately by our staff — never shown publicly).
  3. Publish your details. Once approved, your transfer info goes live and you can update it any time (edits are reviewed before publishing).

What you can publish

  • Transfer acceptance, fees by type (standard / NFA), and multi-item discounts
  • Store hours, holiday closures, and by-appointment days
  • Transfer policies, documentation requirements, and item restrictions (e.g. magazine-capacity limits in your state)
  • Carrier exclusions and carrier-specific delivery instructions (e.g. "USPS to our PO box")
  • Contact info with per-field visibility — you choose what's public
  • Your own transfer form for shipping dealers to download

FFL & SOT sharing — skip the fax machine

Verified dealers can upload a copy of their FFL — and their SOT for NFA work — and choose how other verified dealers access them:

  • Open download: any logged-in verified dealer can download your FFL/SOT straight from your listing.
  • By request: dealers request a copy (optionally including the customer and item details for the transfer). You get an email, approve or deny with one click, and the requester gets a secure download link.
  • Specific FFLs: grant standing access to the dealers you work with — search by name, license number, city, or ZIP, choose FFL and/or SOT, and pick a duration (30 days up to indefinite). When a grant expires, the dealer can send you a renewal request right from your listing, and you can extend or revoke a grant at any time. You can even grant access to an FFL that hasn't registered yet — it activates automatically when they verify their listing.
  • Distributors: opt in to give national distributors automatic access to your FFL/SOT copies, so distributor shipments never wait on paperwork.

Either way, files are stored privately, every download is logged, and only verified dealers and distributors ever see them. SOT uploads track their June expiration so shippers know the copy is current.

More dealer tools

  • EZ Check link on every listing for one-click ATF verification.
  • Transfer slip generator — print a packing slip for outgoing transfers (customer details never touch our servers).
  • Free read-only API for integrating published listings into your own tools. See the API docs.

Why claim your listing?

  • It's free — no subscription, no per-transfer charges.
  • Customers searching your area see your fees and hours instead of "status unknown" — and dealers who publish details get the business.
  • Shipping dealers can verify you accept transfers and grab your FFL without phone tag or emailing license copies back and forth.
  • Fewer mis-shipped firearms: your requirements, restrictions, and delivery instructions are flagged right on your listing.
